Green Bird Bangkok ครั้งที่ 4 ถูกจัดขึ้นในวันที่ 8 กรกฎาคม ด้วยความตั้งใจของพวกเราเพื่อให้ทุกอย่างออกมาดีที่สุด แต่แล้วก็เกิดเหตุการณ์ไม่คาดฝันขึ้น เพียงครึ่งชั่วโมงก่อนที่งานจะเริ่ม สายฝนได้เทลงมาอย่างต่อเนื่องและไม่มีทีท่าว่าจะหยุดลง ทำให้ไม่สามารถออกไปเก็บขยะได้เหมือนทุกครั้ง เพราะการออกไปทำกิจกรรมท่ามกลางสายฝนอาจทำให้อาสาสมัครล้มป่วยได้ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในช่วงเวลาที่ COVID-19 กำลังระบาด อย่างไรก็ตามพวกเราตัดสินใจที่จะไม่ยกเลิกกิจกรรมนี้ และลงมือแก้ไขสถานการณ์นี้โดยเปลี่ยนจากการเก็บขยะเป็นการปลูกฝังการแยกขยะประเภทต่าง ๆ ผ่านกิจกรรมการแข่งขันแทน พวกเราให้ผู้เข้าร่วมแบ่งเป็นสี่กลุ่ม และช่วยกันออกแบบโปสเตอร์สำหรับถังขยะ 4 สีที่แตกต่างกัน ได้แก่ สีแดง สีเหลือง สีเขียว และสีน้ำเงิน ซึ่งแต่ละใบเป็นตัวแทนของขยะประเภทต่าง ๆ ซึ่งนอกจากความตั้งใจในการให้พวกเขาซึมซับการคัดแยกขยะแล้ว พวกเรายังตั้งใจให้ผู้เข้าร่วมเรียนรู้ในการทำงานเป็นทีมที่ดี ด้วยความหวังที่จะให้ผู้คนเห็นความสำคัญของธรรมชาติ และช่วยกันปกปักษ์รักษามัน
เมื่อการแข่งขันสิ้นสุดลง พวกเราพบว่าทั้งสี่ทีมต่างตั้งใจออกแบบ และสร้างสรรค์โปสเตอร์ได้โดดเด่น สวยงามเป็นอย่างมาก และแม้ว่ากิจกรรมนี้จะถูกจัดขึ้นจากการแก้ไขปัญหาเฉพาะหน้า แต่พวกเราพูดได้เต็มปากว่างานครั้งนี้เป็นประสบการณ์ที่มีความหมาย และพวกเราภูมิใจกับมันมากจริง ๆ และพวกเราขอขอบคุณอาสาสมัครทุกท่านที่ให้ความสนับสนุน และตั้งใจทำงานอย่างเต็มที่
เนื่องจากกรุงเทพฯเป็นเมืองที่ใหญ่และพลุกพล่านอยู่ตลอดเวลา ทำให้ขยะถูกทิ้งเกลื่อนกลาดตามท้องถนนกลายเป็นภาพที่คนส่วนใหญ่เห็นจนชินตาไปแล้ว และถึงแม้ว่ามันเป็นไปไม่ได้ที่จะบังคับให้ทุกคนหันมาเก็บขยะ แต่พวกเราสามารถทำให้บ้านเมืองน่าอยู่ขึ้นได้โดยเริ่มจากตัวของเรา กล่าวคือ การดูแลให้ขยะของเราทิ้งอย่างถูกที่นั่นเอง
On the 8th of July, the day the 4th Green Bird Bangkok was held, had occurred to be a rainy day, making this round unlike any other. Naturally, we strongly discouraged the idea of picking trash in the rain, as our participants falling ill would not be ideal, especially in times of the COVID pandemic. However we still had a productive day advocating trash management in Bangkok without having to roam the streets collecting garbage from sidewalks! We hosted a competition where participants designed posters for 4 different colors of trash bins- red, yellow, green and blue, each representing different kinds of waste. Through grouping participants, who have barely worked with one another before, into teams, they learnt proper waste management in addition to teamwork. This way, we promoted both our volunteering and save-the-environment spirits to come to on, even when the sky was pouring.
By the end of the event, all 4 teams eagerly came up with brilliant designs, each of which were distinguished and creative. The event ran smoothly, all thanks to everyone’s contribution. Though this clean-up may be unprecedented, we are proud to say it was a remarkable and meaningful experience.
Since Bangkok is a large and busy city, it isn't strange to see garbage on the street. Although not everyone can come out to help us pick up trash, proper management of our own waste can be the start of a larger movement to keep our city clean.
