日本語↓ On one of the last days of March, I managed to squeeze the March clean up in! Until the very last second, we weren’t sure if we would be able to clean due to the constantly changing weather. But just as we were about to give up, the sun came out and our smallest group of volunteers ever (3!), who showed up in spite of the weather, were able to help make a dent in the rubbish problem around Central Station. Each volunteer filled up more than one bag of rubbish each, and in record time (two full bags in around 10 minutes). Unfortunately, the lack of rubbish bins and plentiful fast food and coffee outlets around Central meant mountains of rubbish. @cityofsydney needs to seriously think about installing more bins around Central Station and employing more staff to clean up. Fast food restaurants and convenience stores such as @kfc and @easymart should also consider how to clean up after their customers, whose litter we found everywhere! Today, I was able to actively clean with the volunteers, and common items we picked up were @mentos wrappers, coffee cups, fast food drink and food plastic lids, cigarette and vape packaging, as well as the usual random pieces of plastic packaging. Central is one of the main stations in Sydney, but definitely has one of the dirtiest surroundings. Thank you to our lovely female volunteers who came out today to make a difference and leave an impression on others. See you again next month!
